March Blog: Dinosaurs!

Mango friends and families!

Hey y'all! So March is over, which is super crazy to think about because it feels like it just started. So what did we do this month? A LOT. First off, remember how I said in the last blog post we were starting flowers and bugs? Well, change of plans, we did dinosaurs instead! The kids LOVED pretending to be paleontologists and dinosaurs (because yes, they were both!) We transformed our dramatic play center into a paleontology lab where the kids cleaned fossils, inspected different kids of dinosaurs and dug up "bones"! To make our dinosaur theme even more realistic, we added a volcano in the block center! It was incredible to see how much fun all the kids had learning about dinosaurs and paleontology! 

Because it was March, that of course means we had to talk about St. Patricks Day! We learned about rainbows (the kids and Ms. Logan did a pretty cool rainbow science experiment), we learned about Ireland and castles and we sang about leprechauns during music! During this super fun busy month, there was National Down Syndrome Day! We celebrated by wearing our cool funky socks and read a book about a child with Down Syndrome. 

Needless to say, March was SO fun. The kids rocked it this month and they grow so much every single day, its awesome. In April we will ACTUALLY start the flowers unit (I promise!), and we're going to keep on learning about bugs!

¡Amigos y familias de Mango!

¡Hola a todos! Marzo ya terminó, lo cual es una locura pensarlo porque parece que acaba de empezar. ¿Qué hicimos este mes? ¡MUCHO! Para empezar, ¿recuerdan que en la última entrada del blog comenté que íbamos a empezar con flores e insectos? Pues bien, ¡cambiamos de planes! ¡Hicimos dinosaurios! A los niños les ENCANTÓ jugar a ser paleontólogos y dinosaurios (¡porque sí, lo eran!) Transformamos nuestro centro de juego dramático en un laboratorio de paleontología donde limpiaron fósiles, inspeccionaron diferentes tipos de dinosaurios y desenterraron "huesos". Para que nuestra temática de dinosaurios fuera aún más realista, ¡añadimos un volcán en el centro de bloques! ¡Fue increíble ver lo mucho que se lo pasaron aprendiendo sobre dinosaurios y paleontología!

Como era marzo, ¡por supuesto que teníamos que hablar del Día de San Patricio! Aprendimos sobre los arcoíris (los niños y la Sra. Logan hicieron un experimento científico genial con arcoíris), aprendimos sobre Irlanda y los castillos, ¡y cantamos sobre duendes con música! Durante este mes tan divertido y ajetreado, ¡celebramos el Día Nacional del Síndrome de Down! Lo celebramos con nuestros calcetines originales y divertidos y leímos un libro sobre un niño con síndrome de Down.

Marzo fue divertidísimo. Los niños lo pasaron genial este mes y crecen muchísimo cada día, ¡es genial! Después de las vacaciones de primavera, ¡comenzaremos la unidad de flores (¡lo prometo!) y seguiremos aprendiendo sobre insectos!

February Blog: Dentists and Post Office

Mango Family and friends! Hey y’all! It’s Ms. Maia, I’m taking over the blogs! Isn’t that so exciting? To start off, can y’all believe that February is over already? It was a very short month, but it was FILLED with so much fun and exploration. We began February with the theme of the post office which helped us get very excited for Valentine's Day. Speaking of Valentine’s Day, the party was fantastic, and the kids were talking about it even after it was over!  During the post office theme, the children loved playing in dramatic play center, which was transformed into their very own post office! The children wrote and "delivered" letters to their loved ones, made their own name badges and learned all about what a mail person does for work! September Blog: Our School Family

Hello Mangos family and friends! It’s hard to believe we've completed our first month at school! Our little Mangos have adjusted beautifully, getting to know their classmates and teachers. We’ve focused on classroom rules, center play, and being good friends. We’re excited to introduce our first Unit Study: Trees!
